Dear Friends and Supporters:
Today I am announcing I will no longer be seeking the office of Representative in the General Assembly for the 195th District.
I started this campaign to advance an agenda. Philadelphia and Pennsyvlania need more good jobs and better schools. Quality health care should be available to every Pennsylvanian as a matter of right and not of privilege. The law should treat all people equally regardless of skin color, gender, creed, or sexual orientation. And our natural resources should be preserved in trust for future generations, not sacrificed to corporate greed.
I also started this campaign to advance the idea that Democrats deserve a choice in selecting who will represent them and their party. Official endorsements should not be rushed through to give any one individual candidate an early advantage. This is especially the case in strongly Democatic districts with no incumbent running for re-election.
After announcing my candidacy I was humbled and honored by the support so many of you have given me. Hundreds of people signed my petitions. Dozens invited me into their homes. All these people shared one characteristic. They all think it is time for a change in Harrisburg and time to make government work for the people again.
I too think it is time for a change in Harrisburg. I too believe state government should be working to solve problems for ordinary Pennsylvanians. That is why today I am announcing I will no longer be running for State Representative. The best way to get a progressive candidate elected who will work for the people of the 195th District is to unite behind one progressive candidate. Anthony Ingargiola is that candidate.
Anthony and I stand for the same things. We are both progressives who believe that government has a constructive role to play in creating a better society. We both think that we need fresh faces in Harrisburg. Anthony has the experience and vision to become a great State Representative. I endorse him without reservation and will spend the rest of this campaign season doing everything in my power to see that he gets elected.
